William “Chief” Lamken, 74, of Springfield, IL passed away at Saint John’s Hospital on Sunday April 18, 2021.
Chief was born in Chicago on February 25, 1947 the son of William and Lucille Mink Lamken.
He drove taxi cabs in Springfield and worked for Lincoln Yellow Cab for 44 years. Chief loved the Illinois Lottery and was a very lucky man when he played. He was also a very generous and loving man that would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, which were many.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chief is survived by his wife, Joann Lee Lamken; his son, Aaron Wheat; his daughter, Winneta Lamken; and a special friend, Tina Ippert.
Cremation services will be accorded and Military Honors will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Chief will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
