Vera Brown, 88, of Edinburg, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center. Vera was born in Mechanicsburg, on February 23, 1934, the daughter of Melvin J. “Pete” and Fern (Patrick) Stuart. She married Spencer Brown on June 14, 1953 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2000.
Vera enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting, quilting, bird and squirrel watching, garage sales, and most of all babysitting. Vera spent her life taking care of others and never had a harsh word to say toward anyone. She was an avid gardener who could turn any chore into playtime for all the children she helped raise.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ida Daugherty; brother, Wayne Ensminger; and two nephews, Russell Ensminger and Richard Daugherty.
Vera is survived by her nephews, Darrell, Donald (Laurie) and Charles (Karen) Ensminger; nieces Meredith Hale, Darlene Koehler, and friend, Jill (Kent) Morman, as well several great nieces and great nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 26, at 11:00AM at Walnut Hill Cemetery, in Sharpsburg.
Memorial donations may be made to Loving Arms Pregnancy Center, 500 N. Walnut St. in Taylorville.
