Sharon Lynn Dapron, 83, of Springfield, IL. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband of 66 years and her loving family at 7:20PM on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital.
Sharon was born on January 10, 1938, in Springfield, IL. The daughter of William E. and Eunice I. (Hanauer) Cruise. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, Rodney Reynolds; two grandsons, Danny Dapron Jr. and Rodney Zane Reynolds II; and one brother, Jack E. Cruise.
She is survived by the love of her life, Leo Dapron, whom she married at St. Aloysius Church on July 24, 1954. Together they raised five children, Danny (Susie Caillier) Dapron, Debbie (Steve Diczban) Reynolds, Diana (Gary) Thompson, Darlene (Kenny) Marx and Denise (Charles) Kunz, all of Springfield, IL.; one sister Linda Glover of Fort Myers, Fl; brother-in-law Richard (Phyillis) Dapron; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty three great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Sharon retired from the City of Springfield as a crossing guard. She received an accommodation award for 25 years of services as a crossing guard for the City of Springfield Police Department Traffic Division at St. Aloysius School. She served as an Election Judge for most of her adult life. Sharon was the most caring, compassionate and kind hearted person you would ever meet. She was considered a “second mom and grandma” to most of the neighborhood kids where her and Leo raised their children. Sharon loved to travel and meet new people. During the winter months, you would find her soaking in the sun at her second home in Fort Myers, Fl. She loved to camp and had many friends at Lost Arrow Campgrounds in Havana, IL. Where her and Leo were member for over 30 years. She also enjoyed bowling, bunco, ceramics, crafting and dancing. She spent endless hours with her family and loved hosting gatherings.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Chatham Cemetery with Pastor Dan Eum officiating.
