Sara Lee Knobloch (nee Poling, Coplea) age 82 passed from this life onto the next December 27, 2023. Born August 11, 1941 in Cerro Gordo, IL to Jacob D. and Ruby F. (Copeland) Poling, Sara attended Bement High School graduating in 1959. She married Leo M. Coplea in 1959 and they divorced in 1975. Sara married R. Stephen (Steve) Knobloch In 1977- they were married 40 years.
She was an attentive, loving mother to Wynne, Mark and David Coplea and David’s wife, Kathy (Moran) Coplea. Sara cherished her grandson, Nicholas Ercegovich and adored her great grandchildren Zayne, Zoey and Zade Ercegovich.
Sara Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Knobloch, her parents and three siblings: Jay Poling, Margaret Giles and Mary Mann. Sara was known to most people in Rochester as the post office lady, having worked there for 17 years. She and Steve hosted lots of gatherings in their home called Chi House and shared many dozens of Christmas cookies.
Sara was compassionate and kind, serving as a hospice volunteer for several years. She voraciously read a wide variety of topics, and was faithful about sending cards to family and friends. She firmly believed in the power of intention and prayer. Hers was a unique light in the world, and she will be dearly missed, fondly remembered by her large extended family and friends.
