Marsha Messmore Obituary

Marsha E. (Schwartz) Messmore, 66, of Springfield, IL passed away at her home on Sunday July 10, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Marsha was born in Paris, IL on August 30, 1955 and was the daughter of Donald R. and Jane A. (Forbes) Schwartz. Marsha married her husband, Jack Messmore on April 3, 1976. Jack and Marsha were married for 46 years and had 3 children.

Marsha worked for 40 years as a dental assistant for several Springfield dentists and particularly enjoyed getting to know the patients. She had a marvelous ability to remember details about them.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach. Marsha also enjoyed listening to music, reading, and doing crossword and sudoku puzzles. Marsha loved her family and especially loved being a “Grammie” and a “GaGa” to her grandchildren. She loved her people and was a social butterfly. Every day spent with friends and family was her “Best Day Ever”!

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; brother in law, Terry Day; great niece, Caity; as well as many beloved Aunts and Uncles and her dog, Sydney.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; her children, Matthew (Amy) Messmore, Megan (Sean) Forshee, and Ian (Stephanie) Messmore; grandchildren, Kate, Parker, Max and Blake; her brother, Jon (Sally) Schwartz and sisters, Donna Day, Paula (Ed) Gibson, Beth (Mike) Bulpitt, and Gina (Brian) Liggett; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Cremation services are being accorded and a private family graveside service is being held at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in memory of Marsha to Be Humble Gym (https://behumblegym.com), Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society (https://www.lldss.org/), or Memorial Home Hospice (https://memorial.health/foundations/springfield-memorial-foundation/giving/).
