Mark "Ike" Iocca Obituary

Springfield, IL – Mark A. “Ike” Iocca, 63, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2023. Mark was born on July 25, 1959 in Springfield, IL. Mark was the son of Frederick Iocca (d: 2009) and Jude Iocca (d: 2018). He married Michelle M. Guthrie on January 3, 2004, and she survives. 

Mark went to Lincoln Land Community College in 1978 and 1979. He was a pitcher on the Lincoln Land baseball team. In 1978 Mark threw the 7th one hitter in Lincoln Land Logger history. He then went to Chadron State College from 1980 to 1982 and lettered in baseball. After graduating from Chadron State, Mark went to the University of Nebraska College of Law from 1983 to 1985 and earned his Juris Doctor (JD) law degree. Mark passed the Illinois bar exam in 1986. Mark has been employed with the State of Illinois, Office of the General Counsel, Department of Healthcare and Family Services since 1986. Mark loved playing softball he was a two time NSA class B all state pitcher in 1997 and 1998. Mark was also on two NSA Class B National Tournament teams. Mark was equally passionate about his children and was an amazing, kind and loving father. He devoted everything he could to their health and happiness. 

 

Mark is survived by his wife, Michelle and their two daughters, Caroline Noel (20) and Katharine Jude (14); Three grown children Dylan Scott (36) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marissa Mae (32) of Springfield, IL and Dalton Angelo (27), of Springfield, IL; five siblings which include his twin brother, Michael P. Iocca of Lee's Summit, MO., sister Joan R. Oei of San Antonio, TX, brother, Anthony G. Iocca of Fayetteville, NC, and sisters Ann M. Iocca and Rebecca M. Iocca both of Henderson, Nevada; aunt Ann F. Iocca of San Francisco, CA; and one grandchild, Kaeden Iocca (15) of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  

Mark is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jude Iocca, his Aunt Marie Wiser and his father, Frederick Iocca.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to help support Mark’s young children during this horrific time along with the expenses related to Mark’s memorial services, cremation and Celebration of Life being planned for June.
