Mamie Casher Obituary

Mamie Josephine Hoffman Casher, born in Springfield Illinois, July 27th 1922 the daughter of Marie and William Hoffman.

Mamie passed away in the comfort of her home with her son at her side.

Mamie was 2 years old when her mother Marie passed away, after that time she was raised by her "Nanna and Dadda".  She lived across from Isles Park during her younger years, enjoyed playing there and sports in the neighborhood.  That park is where she met her future husband Richard Casher.  She graduated from Feitshan's High School in the year 1940, and  she and Rich married on May 31st, 1940. They were married for 39 years until his passing in 1980.

They had 4 children, William (deceased) Jeanette, Debbie and Erick.  During the course of Mamie's life she worked as a forklift operator at Allis Chalmers, worked for Lloyd Cleaners, and for over 30 years, she worked for Dr. David W. Mack, doing whatever was required at his home from cleaning to being a nanny for his youngest daughter Chrissy.  Mamie was an incredibly hard worker, a tenacious individual, a compassionate, loving mother and loyal to all those who befriended her.  She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, cooking and baking for her family, gardening and in her later years going on short trips with her neighbor Jim and simply speaking with her longest friend Betty, and her daughter in law Flor. She was also grateful for being taken care of so well by the staff of Seven to Heaven and Magic Nails during her final years; they treated her like family.  She was adored and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Jeanette, Debbie (husband, Bruce) and Erick (ex-wife, Flordelyn); grandchild, William (wife, Erin Rae); great grandchildren, Cory, Cody, Nathan,Bryce and Jenna, and one great great grandchild.

Mamie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Rich; her child, William and son-in-law, James; as well as her grandchild,Arind.
