Lowell Willis Obituary

Lowell Glen Willis, 79, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Monday, May 14 in Naperville, IL surrounded by his family.

Lowell Glen was born on April 1, 1939 in Adair Co, KY the son of Henry and Angie Lettie Willis.  He married Joyce Ann Reynolds on July 20, 1963 in Springfield, IL.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  His career continued with the Air National Guard 183rd Tactical Fighter Wing in Springfield, IL retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sargent as a Communication Specialist.  Following his retirement from the Air National Guard, he worked and retired from the State of Illinois.  He was a member of the Pleasant Plains American Legion Post 599, Masonic Lodge #700, and 50+ Club.  He was a member of the Pleasant Plains Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.  He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, traveling, spending time at the family farm in Pope Co, IL, and most importantly spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Cosby and Herman; and two sisters Marcella Watkins and Gertrude Mullen.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Gary (Patti) Dial of Franklin, TN; daughters, Tracey (David) Mitchell of Naperville, IL and Alysia (the late Doug) Baker of St. Charles, IL; grandchildren; Chris (Samantha) Dial, Mike (Mandy) Dial, Andrea (Brent) Watson, Jacob Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, Grace Baker, Erin Baker, and Henry Baker; six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Zack, William, Edward, Abby and Amelia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Keith Masten officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District, 611 Buckeye Road, Pleasant Plains, IL 62677 or any organization honoring or serving veterans.
