Larry Burton, 89, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Villas of Holly Brook in Chatham, IL. Larry was born on February 13, 1936, in Pittsfield, IL., the son of Howard and Irma (Jones) Burton.

Larry retired from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.  He enjoyed the comfort of his home, whether it be working around the yard or relaxing in his kitchen watching Fox News and various sports while sitting with his Min Pins.  Larry loved telling stories, with a smile on his face, of his life adventures or any miscellaneous incidents to his family or anyone who had a moment to listen.

He is survived by his three loving children, Terrel (Shannon) Burton; Shiloy (Rob) Varady; Shanda (Jim) Godar; stepdaughter Ashleigh (Jeff) Watson.  He was a proud grandfather to  Morgan (Jamie) Pittman, Trey (Erika) Burton, Dylan, Faith Burton; Chase, Colin Varady; Paisley, Ira Godar;  several step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren Cole, Kylie Pittman

He is preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Maxwell Burton,  his parents, and sister and brother-in-law Donna Sue (Don) Wolaver.

Cremation was accorded and memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:30AM at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester, IL.
