Jack Taylor Obituary

Jack K. Taylor, 86, of Rochester, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Villas of South Park, in Chatham.

Jack was born on December 31, 1935, in White Hall, IL., the son of Kenneth and Georgia (Nagle) Taylor. He married Phyllis Pearson on July 12, 1959. Jack served as Superintendent of Rochester School District from 1975 until retiring in 1994. Prior to coming to Rochester Jack served as Superintendent of Tri-City Schools. After retirement Jack drove a school bus for Rochester Schools for 15 years and loved transporting the athletic teams to different sporting events. Jack was a proud alumnus of the University of Illinois. He enjoyed watching Rochester Rockets, St. Louis Cardinals and U of I sports. He was the best Husband, Father and Grandfather.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Erin Taylor; brothers, Bill (wife, Louisa Mae, deceased), Sam (wife, Kate, deceased), Harold (Doris), and Dean (Maria) Taylor; sister, Margaret Maloney.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Natalie Taylor; son, Stuart (Pam) Taylor; 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Alex (Steph), Hailey, and Gage Taylor; 3 step grandchildren, Mel (Nate) Shaughnessy and Mitch & Jake Populorum; 2 great grandchildren, Riverly and Memphis Taylor; 1 step great grandson, Liam Shaughnessy; 2 brothers, Bob (Jean) and Barney (Pat) Taylor; 5 sisters, Marianne (husband, Lynn, deceased), Kate (husband, Jim, deceased) Newman, Helen (husband, Lowell, deceased) Dawdy, Lois Taylor Coonrod, and Linda (Bob) Mitchell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Jack’s wishes, cremation will be accorded by Park Funeral Homes and a service will be held at later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Rochester Christian Food Pantry, 325 S. Walnut in Rochester, the Rochester Education Foundation, or the Rochester Athletic Boosters, #4 Rocket Drive, Rochester, IL. 62563
