J. Lorraine Kinkade Obituary

J. Lorraine (Lori)  Kinkade, 70, of Buckeye, AZ, formerly of Rochester, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at her home with her husband and daughter in attendance after a valiant battle with cancer. Lorraine was born on April 26, 1951, in Springfield, the daughter of John R. and Myrtle E. (Price) Kinkade. She attended Rochester Schools and graduated in 1969.  In 1973 she moved to San Diego, CA  and began working as a patent or legal administrator for various law firms where her attention to detail and organization skills were greatly valued and sought after. She worked on foreign and domestic patent related cases, supervised and controlled intellectual properties, dealt with patent, copyright and trademark functions, and was an important liaison among counsel and government agencies.

Lorraine spent some time in South Carolina renovating a home and also obtaining her real estate license, before retiring to Phoenix in 2009 where she enjoyed some volunteer work, swimming, traveling, and camping.  In her retirement years, she also appreciated her home gardens, doing research, and spending time with her pets. Lorraine’s love language was food and she greatly enjoyed cooking meals and entertaining in her beautiful home.  She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3788 of San Diego and enjoyed returning to CA to visit family and friends over the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Jim Geades; daughter, Krystine (Steve) Neer; sister, Mary Maddox; grandchildren, Valerie and Hannah Neer; stepson, Benjamin Geades; niece, Dawn Campbell-McCoy; and nephews, Brad and Jack Campbell.

Per Lorraine’s wishes, a private graveside service and burial will be at Rochester Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Homes for Our Troops (the Gary Sinise Foundation) or the Wake Forest Family House SECU, North Carolina, with the request that families be notified of such donations so that they can be acknowledged.

Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.
