Howard Chiles Obituary

Howard M. Chiles, Jr. 96, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday. January 22, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Howard was born in Champaign, IL. on May 5, 1925, the son of Howard Sr. and Mary Lena (Goodman) Chiles. He married Anna Mae Brown and she preceded him in death in 1987. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran, Member of the American Legion, a proud member of Springfield Bible Church and loved his church, and was known for his generosity and willingness to help others and was proud of his kids and grandkids.


Howard is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Mae; granddaughter, Margo Chiles; Brothers Bill and Rick Chiles; and Sister, Betty Grey.

 

He is survived by his children, Robert (Nancy) Chiles, Teri (Bob) Didgeon and Alan (Kathleen) Chiles; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Miller and several nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester, from 10:00AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30. The Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will conduct Military Honors at 11:30.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or to Helping Hands of Springfield, 1023 E Washington St, Springfield, IL 62703.
