Franklin Eugene “Gene” Cory, 83, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the home he built in Rochester.
Gene was born in Springfield, on December 13, 1937, the son of Jesse and Maude (Miller) Cory. He married Lois Nika on September 5, 1964. Gene was a member of the National Guard and the National Guard Band. He worked at Railway Express, one of the original trucking lines in the US, for 15 years until they closed, and worked for 25 years at Bunn Capitol before retiring. Gene also was a member at First Church of God in Springfield.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Killion and Doris Hudgins; and brother, Jesse Cory; one infant brother and one infant sister.
Gene is survived by his wife, Lois; three sons, Kevin (Corinne) of San Jose, CA., Brian (Kris) of Webster Groves, MO., and Ricki (Cari) of Rochester; grandchildren, Ryan, Samantha, Noel, Adam and Caleb and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at Noon on Thursday, May 27, at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
