Eugene Charles Molitoris 1927-2020

Eugene C. Molitoris, 93, of Rochester, died on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Eugene was born September 24, 1927 in Thayer, Illinois to George and Anna Molitoris, the 12th of 13 children. He married Beverly June Bales on January 30, 1954 in Zion, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Beverly, his parents, his brothers George, Edward, John, Thomas and Michael, sisters Mary, Anna, Emma, Margaret, Elisabeth and Pauline.

He attended Thayer Elementary School, Virden High School and received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, January 1951. He served on active duty in the US Navy from October 1945 to August 1946 and from February 1951 to January 1955. He was released to inactive duty as a Lieutenant in the Civil Engineer Corps of the US Navy. He was employed as an electrical engineer by Sangamo Electric Co. 1955-1975. He worked for the State of Illinois, Capital Development Board and Department of Corrections from 1975 to 1996.

He is survived by sister Barbara, sons Charles (wife Pam), Joseph (wife Cindy), and John, daughters Carolyn Hudec (husband John), Jennifer Kirby, grandchildren Charles Molitoris, Amy Roy, Ryan Roy, Haley Roy, Eric Hudec, Ashley Garcia, Jess Kirby, Sadie Kirby, Cassie Reitermann and great grandchildren Brennon Reitermann, Madison Reitermann, Anna Oswall, Penelope Kirby, Beatrix Molden, Ainsley and Wesley Petros

 

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he served in various offices. Services for the family will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Wednesday, December 30 at 2 pm. Burial in Rochester Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
