Dorothy M (Saunders) Mahar

Dorothy M. (Saunders) Mahar, 94, of Springfield passed away on Friday November 12, 2021 at the Bickford House of Springfield. Dorothy was born on November 4, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Orrin and Jenny Saunders. Dorothy also served her county as Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1948-1951. Dorothy worked in the Illinois Legislature for the majority of her career where she made many lifelong friends. Her out going sometimes fiery personality, passion for always looking her best and her work ethic are what those who knew Dorothy will remember most about her. Her family will not only remember those things but will also remember her never ending love of her children and of all those close to her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brother, Robert Saunders; sister, Marilyn Ley; and her son, Randolph “Rando” Partridge.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce Partridge, Wilferd C. Partridge (Richelle), and Robert Partridge; her daughter, Wendy Hittmeier-Koehler; grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Haley, Drexel, Jenny, Brandon, Brian, Alex, Sheri, Mackenzie; and 17 great grandchildren.

A private family burial will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL where she will be laid to rest.
