Darrell Davis Obituary

Darrell L. Davis, 71, of Edinburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Darrell was born on January 1, 1950, in Taylorville, the son of Robert D. and Theotis “Stub” (Owens) Davis. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1968 and went on to enlist in the US Navy.

After his discharge he started his driving career, he worked for several companies then bough his own truck. He was the owner/operator of Darrell Davis Trucking Inc. until 2010, when he semi-retired for about 6 months. He then went to drive for Gary Ramsey Inc. and finished driving with Copeland Trucking.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He enjoyed cooking out on the grill everyday if possible, having family and friends over. He loved watching his favorite Green Bay Packers and St Louis Cardinals.

He also looked forward to spring, planning what he was going to put in his garden. One year he had up to 24 plants, not just tomatoes, but all sorts of vegetables too. Believe it or not he managed to put 5 tomato plants in this year. He loved working out in the yard, beside his family, his yard and gardening were his joy.

His Walmart trips were not just go in and get what he needed. Countless hours at a time you would see him talking with and old friend or making a new. It was easy for him to make friends.

In his own special way he touched so many lives. Not afraid to make new friends.

We have many wonderful memories and a beautiful legacy of him

He will be missed dearly
