Dale Dudas Obituary

Dale L. Dudas passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at his residence.

Dale was born September 20, 1938 at his parent's home in Staunton, IL. His parents were the late/George A. Dudas and Lillie (Sexton) Dudas of Staunton, IL.

Dale was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Richard and George Dudas Jr.; and his grandparents, John Dudas and Susan (Micoley) Dudas of Mt. Olive, IL. (originally from Austria) and Sam Sexton and Sara (Allen) Sexton of Staunton, IL. 

Dale graduated from Staunton High School, joined the Army National Guard during his senior year of high school where he was part of the Litchfield Unit, later the Decatur Unit, and lastly belonging to the Springfield Headquarters Unit where he retired from. He attended many military schools and graduated from the NCO school. He was part of the Army National guard over 39 years, plus 2 ½ years in inactive Army Reserve. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant. In June 1980 he received an appointment to Warrant Officer CW2. He retired in April 1996 as Chief Warrant Officer CW4. He retired from the full-time service in May 1996 after 27 years of service. 

Dale worked for the Hillsboro Glass Factory for 9 years before becoming full time guard, and then after his retirement, he worked for Ken Catchpole's Greenhouse until he retired.  He then worked for Dekalb Poultry until it closed down, and then worked at Sears until 2010 when he had health problems. Dale continued to keep a garden and do yard work until he was put into hospice. Dale was always a hard worker from the time he was very young, losing his father when he was 11, working setting bowling pins after school, custodian of the Staunton United Methodist Church and mowing lawns. 

Dale was an Illiopolis volunteer fire fighter for 22 years, and a member of the Illiopolis United Methodist Church. 

Dale married Delores A. Walch of Raymond, IL on February 14, I960. They have two sons, Dayton and wife Sue of IN and Devin and wife Laurie of Springfield, IL. They have nine grandchildren. Destiny (Steve) Asselin of Florida, Dawn Dudas of Stanford, IL, Nick McKinney (Jessie) TN, Mailynne (Christian) Calvin of TN, Krystal Dudas of TN, Michael Dudas of Pleasant Plain, IL, David, Tim and Heather Dudas of Springfield, IL; ten great grandchildren, Brayden Robertson of Stanford, IL, Aidan and Addison McKinney, Presley, Chrislynne, Sloan, Skye Calvin of TN, Erin, Brynne, Avery Asselin of FL. He also leaves two sister-in-laws Juanita Dudas of St. Louis, MO and Cleo Dudas of Caseyville, IL; and his brother-in-law, Richard Walch and wife Beverly of Springfield.  Dale is survived by several nephews and nieces and cousins. 

Dale loved his family and always put their needs before his. He will be greatly missed by his family. 

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Illiopolis Methodist Church with Reverend Butch Reneker officiating.  Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Illiopolis Fire Department or Illiopolis United Methodist Church.
