D. Bernice Davis, 94, was born on April 29, 1927 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois. She graduated from New Berlin High School in New Berlin, Illinois in 1945. Bernice worked 35 years for Illinois Bell Telephone Company, retiring as division secretary. She worked at H&R Block from 1982 - 1985 and at Rochester Tax Service from 1985 - 2005. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Sangamon County Rural Youth. She was married on November 8, 1952 to Jim Davis, with whom she helped preserve their cherished pastime of Old Town Hoedown Square Dancing for over 40 years. She was an avid supporter of the family’s sporting activities and was famous for her Christmas caramels.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynn Reznicek (Davis) and son, Dennis James Davis wife Rachel Boden. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jim Davis; her parents, William and Martha (Bruening) Braker, and her brothers and sisters (Dorothy Tuxhorn, Harold Braker, Melvin Braker, Virginia Moore, Mary Margaret Braker).
She loved her grandchildren, (Marcus Reznicek wife Amy, Maria Rivera (Reznicek) husband Erick, Nicholas Davis fiancé Natalie, Hallie Davis), great grandchildren (Boone Davis, Cora Davis, and Ethan Reznicek), as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She lived long enough to see her beloved Atlanta Braves win the 2021 World Series.

Visitation for Bernice will be held on Tuesday November 30, 2021 at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 North 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702 from 9:00am till the time of the funeral service at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery with Pastor Joshua Traxel officiating.
