Carolyn Mae Lamb, 83, of Illiopolis, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Sugar Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Normal, IL.
Carolyn was born on August 25, 1940, in Honey Bend, IL., the daughter of Fred Bandy and Mary Hanrahan. She married Robert Lamb on October 18, 1958 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2013.
Carolyn impacted many lives in her community. She served as Secretary-Bookkeeper for the Illiopolis School District for 20 years, and was a member of the Illiopolis Christian Church where she was very active. She was notorious for her cooking and baking pies and enjoyed golfing, gardening and walking.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and one son, Rocky Lamb.
She is survived by her children, Bobbi Claypool, Rita (Bruce) Stone, and Rick Lamb; step father Don (Sandy) Pipher; 5 grandchildren, Nick Viele, Ben Viele, Joshua Roush, Jake (Stephanie) Stone, and Jacee (Tim) Johnston; 4 great grandchildren Bella Viele, Remy and Reyna Stone, and Lincoln Johnston; one half-brother, Jim Hill; one sister in law, Donna Egan as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 10:00AM until the time of the Memorial service at 11:00AM at the Illiopolis Christian Church. Pastor Melissa Ebken will officiate and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Illiopolis Christian Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
