Barbara A (Slater) Sanders

Barbara A. (Slater) Sanders, 76, of Springfield, IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday December 6, 2021 in the company of her family.  Barb was born in Jacksonville, IL on November 6, 1945 the daughter of William Leroy and G. Marie Slater.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Grandson, Gideon Sanders; and Great Granddaughter Erin Pritchard.

Barb is survived by her husband Marvin Sanders of Springfield; children, Steve (Sheila) Sanders of Rock Hill, SC.  Mark (Denise Nichols) Sanders of West Dundee, IL, and Lisa (Bob) Claton of Springfield, IL.  She is also survived by her sister Shirley Copeland, brothers Mike (Jan) Slater, Phil (Pam) Slater and James (Jackie) Slater.  Grandchildren; Logan Sanders, Chris Flook, Dave Flook, Rachel  Flook, Jenn Waltmann, Brandon Hauck, Shay Hauck, Lakyn Hill, Lilly Nichols, Annali Nichols, Layla Sanders, Kelsey Griesbaum and Rylee Claton. Great Grandchildren; Cameron Coates, Evan Coates, Owen Coates, Hailey Coates, Stevie Lee Flook, Milo Waltmann, Brooklyn Waltmann, Oliver Waltmann, Michael Hauck, Brenna Hauck, Apollo Hauck, Olivia Hill, Bradlee Stieghorst Hill, Milah Hill, Ellyie Hill, Charleigh Pritchard and Harper Pritchard as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Barb enjoyed most of all spending time her grandchildren and great grandchildren; even babysitting several of them over the years.  She also enjoyed planting flowers, traveling with friends to Arizona and Branson and also enjoyed scrapbooking.  She made many scrapbooks for each of her children, grandchildren and started some for her great grandchildren.  Marvin and Barb volunteered with the Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission for many years. They supported and hosted many missionaries for several years and their home was open to anyone at anytime. Barb also enjoyed playing cards with friends and beating Marvin at any game.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Southern View Chapel, 4500 S 2nd St, Springfield, IL 62703 from 9:00 a.m. till the time of the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
