Barbara L. McCulley

Barbara L. (Craig) McCulley, 73, of Rochester, IL, died at 12:40 pm. Monday, November 13, 2023, peacefully at home. She was born Oct. 20, 1950 in Springfield, IL. to John and Mary (McCurley) Craig. She married Gregory McCulley on March 20, 1971 and he survives.

Also surviving are three children, Derrick McCulley (Sara Velez) of Tampa, FL, Catrina M. Wagner (Jay Wagner) of Springfield, IL, and Ryan McCulley of Springfield, IL; four grandchildren, Xander Mack McCulley, Derrick Javier McCulley, Kenleigh Wagner and Addison Wagner; two brothers, James Craig and Thomas Craig of Lincoln, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. She was employed by AT&T and its Illinois telecommunication predecessor companies for 33 years, serving in many capacities and retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Pioneers Volunteers Network participating in numerous charitable and community outreach programs through the organizations. Barbara enjoyed many travels and adventures with her life partner and husband Gregory, especially after their retirements. She enjoyed a plethora of interests, especially if it involved her children and grandchildren and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed reading and adopted many animals in need of a loving home. She was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, in Rochester, from 4:00PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 6:00PM with Reverend Father Brendan Gibson officiating. Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 21 at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, IL. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League of Springfield IL.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to Memorial Physicians Services and Memorial Hospice Services, especially to nurses Brenda, Becky, Marylon, Tracie, Ashley and others, Volunteers Betty, Linda, Ellen, Elaine, Marilyn, Diana and others; Reverend Brendan Gibson and the priests and brothers of St. Katherine Drexel Parish and all that lovingly cared for Barbara.
