Zofia “Sophie” (Blaszkiewicz) Lis, 85, of Springfield, IL passed away on Thursday December 18, 2025 while in the company of her family.

Sophie was born in Stepocice, Poland on March 15, 1940 the daughter of Piotr and Franciszka Blaszkiewicz.

She was preceded by her husband, Wojciech Lis; parents, a grandchild at birth; two sisters, Helena Blajszczak and Maryla Kosiorowska; and brother, Tadeusz Blajszczak.

Sophie is survived by her daughter, Margaret (husband, Chet) Bilows; son, Jerry (wife, Beth) Lis; grandchildren, Adam and Andy Bilows, Ben and Timothy Lis.

Sophie grew up and raised her family in Poland. The family immigrated to the United States in 1981 and settled in Peoria, IL. In her youth, Sophie enjoyed playing the violin in the Philharmonia Orchestra. She worked for Bradley University in housekeeping until she retired. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish in Springfield for many years.

Visitation will be held at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 East Main St. Rochester, IL 62563 on Tuesday December 23, 2025 from 10:00am till the time of the funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
