Wayne M. Liken, 70, of Rochester passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born September 5, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Loyal and Joy (Hartman) Liken. On February 7, 1970 he married his college sweetheart, Ruthie Holderread.

Wayne earned his degree from Western Illinois University in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduation and served his country as a pilot until 1974.  He began his banking career in Pittsburgh, and after more than 35 years in the industry, he retired from US Bank in 2008.  Wayne served his community for many years as a Village Trustee in Rochester, his hometown since 1978.  He loved to ride motorcycles, play golf and attend his grandkids' sporting events.  He and Ruthie enjoyed traveling, especially visiting Jill in Colorado.

He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Liken; two daughters, Stephanie (Nick) Palazzolo and Jill Liken (Chris Lamarre); two grandchildren Samantha and Adam Palazzolo; two brothers Dean (Judy) Liken and Ray (Paula) Liken; two cats Jake and Elwood.

A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
