Wayne Fredrick Heitzman, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his residence.

Wayne was born on October 15, 1929 in Hedrick, IA the son of Frederick and Margaret Miller Heitzman.  He married Gloria McLerren on April 28, 1956; she preceded him in death April 28, 2002.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.  He was a plumber/pipefitter with Union Local 137.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elks Club and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by one son, Mark (Susan) Heitzman of Springfield; one daughter, Pamela (Brian) O'Neill of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Greg Busboom officiating.
