Wanda Lee Ayers, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Villa Health Care East in Sherman, IL.

Wanda was born in Plano, IL, on February 16, 1935, the daughter of John W. Horn and Rachel L. (Walker) Horn. She married Ernest Ayers and he preceded her in death in 2021.

Wanda enjoyed studying genealogy and was the past president of the Sangamon County Genealogical Society. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and loved working outside in her yard.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest Ayers Sr.; and one son, Ronald E. Spencer.

Wanda is survived by her children, Debra Lynn Meyer, Gary Kevin Ayers, Gerald Lee Ayers, and Ernest Dwight Ayers, Jr., as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on held on Friday, December 8, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Wilson Park Funeral Home 200 E. Main St. in Rochester.

Wanda will be laid to rest with her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Monday, December 11, at 10:00 AM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's association.
