IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Mae
(Prinzivalli) Schwarberg
August 31, 1922 – March 12, 2022
Virginia Mae (Prinzivalli) Schwarberg, 99, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at River Birch Christian Village.
Virginia was the sixth of seven daughters of Baldasari (Ben) and Winnie (Lively) Prinzivalli. She lived her entire life in Springfield, except for the years she was with her husband on military assignment. She grew up on South 11th St., attended Feitshans for three years and transferred to Lanphier her senior year. She met her future husband at LHS.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse (2004), her daughter-in-law, Theresa, (2018), her parents, her in-laws, six sisters, six brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Jan, of Los Angeles, CA, her son, Larry, of Park Forest, IL, and her cousin, Vito, of St. Louis, MO.
Virginia joined Third Presbyterian Church in 1930 and was a lifelong member. She was the assistant superintendent of the nursery class there for many years, and some members still refer to her as "Miss Ginny." Late in life she joined the church choir where she was known jokingly as "Hazel Green."
Virginia and Jesse were avid dancers and fans of Big Band Music. They went to many dances and were often asked to do a "shag." Virginia was also a fan of broadway shows, and she entertained audiences in many places with her rendition of "I Can't Say No" from Oklahoma. Virginia was an outgoing, fun-loving person who loved to joke. She even made her doctor blush by flirting with him before answering his question. Staff members at River Birch often told Larry that she made them laugh.
