Virginia E. Funderburk, 100, of Edinburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born to Edward and Edith (Mitchell) Cowgill of Owaneco, IL. on November 24, 1922. She married Merle H. Seaton, Jr. on July 21, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1958. She married Russel J. Funderburk on May 5, 1961 in New City, IL. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1976. Virginia loved her family and she was the happiest when her family gathered for a meal and played Scrabble and Phase 10. She loved to sew and made many crafts. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Taylorville for many years.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Linda (Galen) Bates of Edinburg, Joyce (David) Caylor of Phoenix, AZ, Sallie (Andrew) Korsak, of Homewood, and Cassie (Leonard) Harter of Edinburg; step children, John Funderburk of Mechanicsburg, Sharon (Daniel) Richey of Peoria, and Ruth Anne Bowman of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 20 step great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; 6 brothers, Jack, Robert, Donald, George, Lloyd and Clyde Cowgill; daughter, Connie Seaton; step son, Russell Funderburk and two grandchildren.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 1:30PM at Bethel Cemetery,  1919 N 1000 East Rd, Taylorville, IL 62568, with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
