Obituary

Tavin Edward Benton, 21, born September 22nd, 1998, escaped this world on May 5th, 2020, outside Amarillo, TX. Tavin was a simple man. He was an adventurous, fun-loving, hilarious, handsome guy who loved the outdoors. He did not like (hated) the feeling of being cooped up, often setting up a tent in the backyard just to sleep under the stars. He loved to cook and was very proud of the meals he served for others. He liked taking care of his people. His favorite thing to do was camp and hike in the mountains with his dog, Buddy, his very best friend. He was filled with the spirit of adventure and wanderlust. He was fearless. He could go off the grid for a few days, returning intact with stories and a sense of self-fulfillment. Tavin loved his brothers over everything. The love he had for them showed in his smile every time he'd see them. Even though Tavin's adventurous spirit would often look like disregard for his safety, he always made sure to protect his brothers every chance he could. Tavin attended Rochester High School in Rochester, Illinois, before moving to Colorado. He was among the 2017 Graduating class. Tavin loved working with his hands, always building small projects and helping family with any muscle work. He was the first person to count on getting the dirty jobs done. Any excuse to be outdoors, using his body was good enough for him. He was employed by Formworks Plastics in Orange, CA, building first-aid kits for fighter pilots, should they need to eject. He was happy with where his direction was going and very proud of his job, calling it a mission before he passed. Tavin is proceeded in death by his great grandparents, Edward & Peggie Benton, whom he loved very much, as well as his grandfather, Gary Edward Benton. Tavin is survived by his parents, Jeff and Rachel Ramsey of Rochester, birth mom, Jennifer Benton of Fullerton , CA, brothers D'Carlos Benton, Camden Ramsey, Jace Benton, Kyler Benton, Bryer Ramsey all of Rochester, and Gary Benton Pettis of Fullerton, CA, Grandmother Ann Westfall, Grandparents Bob and Jacquie Ramsey all of Rochester,Grandfather, Lester K Westfall Sr of Springfield, Uncles Lester (Rachel) Westfall of Springfield, Jeremy (Carrie) Benton of Rochester, a niece Mia Jean, nephew Ezekiel, and cousins Memphis, Zola, Jacob, Jayden,Jessie James, Joe & Chelsie Please say his name out loud.
