Sylvia S. Krause, 80, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.

Sylvia was born June 11, 1935, in Peoria, the daughter of Earl and Anna Staub Stoecker. She married Gerald Krause June 13, 1953 in Peoria, IL.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Jean Stoecker and three brothers, James Clarence, Charles Earl, and Thomas Roy Stoecker.

She graduated from Peoria High School in 1952 and attended classes at Lincoln Land Community College and Sangamon State University from 1969 through 1979. She began working for the State of Illinois in 1970 and retired from the Dept. of Public Aid in 1995. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald W. Krause; two sons, Randal Gerald and Daniel William (wife, Lori) Krause, both of Springfield, two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Millie (late husband, Norman) Wiesehan, of East Peoria, IL; and one brother, Earl Otto (wife, Joan) Stoecker of Sacramento, CA.

Cremation was accorded.  Private family services will be at a later date.
