Sue Ann Walter

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Sue Ann Walter, 76, of Springfield, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her children.

She was born in Jacksonville, Ill., on April 26, 1938, to Dorothy Marie Heiden Barton and John Emmett Barton. She married Jerry Louis Walter on Jan. 1, 1960, in Jacksonville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2001.

She graduated from Jacksonville High School and Illinois College. She worked at JCPenny and later with her husband as a nursing home manager.

Sue is survived by three sons: Michael (Teri) Walter, Chris (companion, Cheryl) Walter and Scott (Jean) Walter, all of Springfield; two daughters, Shelley Walter of Springfield and Robyn (Andy) Walter Mrowiec of Lake Forest, Ill.; six grandchildren: Aaron (Nicole) Carter, Dakota Walter, Jacob Walter, all of Springfield, and Simon, Collette and Elliott, all of Lake Forest, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and William Carter of Springfield; and brother, Richard (Suzie) Barton of Hawthorne, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Ian David Kniffen; sister-in-law, Jill Kniffen; niece, Debbie Kniffen; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
