Shirley Owens, 83, of Niantic, died on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Shirley was born on December 5, 1936, in Mt. Pulaski, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Bradshaw) Stout. She married Ollie J. Owens Jr, on February 7, 1956; he preceded her in death in 2003.

Shirley worked as meat cutter for Zim's in Illiopolis and then later went to work at Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield. She enjoyed going to yard and garage sales, loved her dogs, company and spending time with her friends and family. Shirley was also a member of the Niantic United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Stout.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Hackwith; grandson, Larry (Renata) Browning; and great-grandchildren Blaise, Owen and Nadia Browning.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the Niantic United Methodist Church with Reverend Butch Reneker officiating. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic.
