Shirley A. Cannon

ROCHESTER, IL - Shirley A. Cannon, 83, of Rochester, passed into heaven at the Taylorville Care Center on Sunday, May 3, 2015.

She was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Canton, Ill., the daughter of the Rev. Lawrence and Mildred Strode. She married Robert A. Cannon Sr., and he resides in Rochester.

Shirley worked as an LPN at Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Hospital. She later spent 12 years at Horace Mann in Springfield. She spent her life serving God and caring for others.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Robert (Marylu) Cannon Jr.; daughter, Sue (Gary) Taylor; four grandchildren: Jason Cannon, Wesley (fiancAC.e, Mary) Cannon, Joshua (companion, Jena) Taylor, and Jacob (Karissa) Taylor; brother, William (Kathy) Strode; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with the Rev. Herb W. Coates officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
