Obituary

Sherryl Mae Sonneville (née Moore), 63, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026. Born on January 20, 1963, in Springfield, Illinois, Sherryl was the beloved daughter of John and Ruth Moore. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication to her family and community.

Sherryl grew up in Illiopolis, Illinois, where she graduated from high school. She recently pursued further education at SMHU University, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth. Professionally, Sherryl found her calling in the medical field as a sterile processing technician. She took great pride in her work and cherished the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of others through her role.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Sherryl’s first love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she shaped her life around biblical teachings. The influence of her parents and grandparents played a significant role in nurturing her deep spiritual foundation. She devoted herself to raising her children with these values, praying that they would grow into responsible Christian adults—a legacy she lived to see fulfilled.

Sherryl’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Sonneville; her loving parents, John and Ruth Moore; her children, Adam Poock and Sarah Poock; and her cherished grandchildren: Wyatt, Macy, Ruby, and Memphis. She also leaves behind her brothers John Stephen Moore and Luke Aaron Moore. Sherryl’s warmth extended beyond immediate family—she had a big heart that touched everyone who knew her.

A passionate Elvis Presley fan, Sherryl found joy in music and dancing that brought smiles to those around her. Her vibrant personality and ability to make others smile were hallmarks of who she was—a woman who truly loved life.

Sherryl is predeceased by several beloved family members who undoubtedly welcomed her home: Richard King (grandfather), Melba June King (step-grandmother), Gayle Burch (step-grandfather), Francis Burch (grandmother), Harold Moore (grandfather), and Beatrice Moore (grandmother).

Sherryl’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering faith, boundless love for family, and joyful spirit leave an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire those she touched.

May Sherryl Mae Sonneville rest in eternal peace with the Lord she so deeply loved.
