Smith, Sr.

ILLIOPOLIS - Samuel H. Smith, Sr., 68, of Illiopolis, Ill., passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at St. John's ER in Springfield.

He was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Decatur the son of 0. Howard and Thelma E. Fishburn Smith.

Samuel married Linda L. Seay on June 13, 1965, in Illiopolis and was a member of the Illiopolis United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong farmer and member of the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Local No. 65 in Decatur.

Preceded in death by his brother, George Thomas Smith, he is survived by his wife, Linda, of Illiopolis; a son, Samuel H. Smith, Jr., (Kathy) of Mt. Auburn; daughters, Bambi Koshinski (Bob) and April Huckaba (Rick) both of Illiopolis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; five great-great- stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Eric Smith (Judy) of Blue Mound and Robert Mark Smith (Barbara) of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Illiopolis United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the church. Reverend C.W. Reneker officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Illiopolis.
