Samuel W. Nolen, 90, of Springfield, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at St. John's Hospital, in Springfield, IL.
Sam was born on October 28, 1934, in West Frankfort, IL, the son of Sam and Daisy (Odle) Nolen. He married Valeria Meyersick on June 23, 1963.
Sam enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching the news. He worked for the Illinois State Police for over 35 years, starting as a Cadet and working his way up to Director.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Valeria.
Sam is survived by his son Brent (Kim) Nolen; two grandchildren, Trent (Emily) Nolen and Amanda (Brody) Snyder; one great granddaughter, Nina Nolen; two brothers, one sister and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester, from 10:00AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30. Burial will follow at 1:00PM at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
