Obituary

Ruby (Hill) Jefferson was born January 10, 1958 in Vardaman, MS, to Tommie Lee Hill and Flora (Gunn) Hill. She moved to Springfield, IL as a teenager and attended Southeast High School.

Ruby (affectionately known as "Nell") accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized into the household of Christian Faith. As sweet as she was feisty, Ruby was a very loving, outgoing, affectionate person who was known to help others wherever she went. She loved her children without question; each of whom has been told: "When you have your own

grandkids you can do what you want!" Ruby often sealed her advice with the age-old homespun warning: "You don't believe fat meat is greasy!" Whether cooking, playing cards, Pac-Man, entertaining or just spending time with friends and family, she enjoyed herself and was definitely the life of the party!

Ruby departed this life on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Tommie Lee Hill Jr., and Billy Ray Hill.

She leaves this world and memories to her ex-husband, friend and father of her children, Charles Jefferson Jr., and her children: Angela Jefferson, Charles Hill (Shaniqueka), and Nicole Hill, all of Springfield, IL. She is also cherished by her surviving siblings: Dorothy Jean Latham (Charles), Barbara Jean Townsend (Joe Will Townsend), Billy Dale Hill (Mary), Jimmy Dale Hill (Mae Ruby), Donald Gene Hill, all of Mississippi, and Henry Earl Hill (Yourlanda) of Springfield, IL.

Ruby is also mourned by her 6 grandchildren whom she loved so very much: Davonte Ware, DaSean Ashford, Brenton Ashford, Aniyah Hill, Kimoryee' Ballard, and Alyssa Hill, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, associates and extended family.
