Ross W. Buie, 95, of Springfield, IL passed away on Monday June 12, 2023 in the company of his family.

Ross was born in Madison, WI on May 18, 1928 and was the son of Jesse and Nellie (Gugel) Buie.

He married Dorothea E. Weissberg on October 18, 1952 and she preceded him in death. Ross was also preceded in death by his Parents; daughter, Cynthia Brackett and his Twin Granddaughters.

Ross worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Budgets and Finance. After retiring from IDOT, he became President and Legislative Chairman of the Retired State Employees Association. He enjoyed traveling with Dorothea and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was a lifetime Elks Member. He and Dorothea enjoyed spending time at the Elks and the American Legion where they had their special table.

Ross is survived by his daughter, Regina (Matt) Heissinger; son, Ross Buie II; grandchildren, Taylor Barnett and Jesse Heissinger, Ross and Cameran Buie, Brett (Sandi) Ryan; and great grandchildren, Kyle and Conor Ryan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday June 17, 2023 at Wilson Park Funeral Home (200 E. Main St.) Rochester, IL 62563 from 10:00am till 12:00noon. Committal will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
