Ronald L. Richards, 86, of Pekin, formerly of rural Buffalo, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare of Peoria. Ron was born on November 1st, 1937, in Illiopolis, the son of Robert J. Richards and Hazel Lamb. He married Donna J. Wake on February 18th, 1962 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2022. Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was a veteran of the Air Force and, with the support of his operated the family farm for over 40 years.  He was a member of the Illiopolis Christian Church.  Ron enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of a contract bridge league.  Over the years, he would attend many bridge tournaments and achieve the status of Life Master. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and was an avid Cardinals fan.

He is preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Ronald is survived by his children, Todd (Kathy) Richards, Rhonda (Phil) Heinz, Derek (Melinie) Richards, and Richele (George) Pennock; two grandchildren, Michael (Courtney) Richards and Alex Richards; one great granddaughter Jordan Inman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral at 11:00AM at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home, 432 7th St., Illiopolis, Illinois.

Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
