Obituary

RIVERTON, IL - Robert Earl Sauers, 92, of Riverton, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his home.

Robert was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Dawson, the son of Ernest and Freda Lamkey Sauers. He married Gladys Brown on Dec. 11, 1949.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 7383rd EP Co. in New Guinea, Luzon Campaign, and the Occupation of Japan.

He was a livestock farmer and spent 20 years in the Livestock Commission as Co-Owner of the Leay Commission Company at the Springfield stockyards. He was lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton.

Bob was preceded in the death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and LaRue Sauers; and sister, Ida Mae Beck.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, and eight nieces and nephews: Stephen Sauers, Daryl Dority, Susan Kohl, Rita Meyer, Thomas Meyer Jr., Mary Stapleton, LaMont Meyer, and Ida Mae Eddington.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton with Pastor Michael Koschmann officiating.

Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to: Immanuel Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice .
