Obituary

Robert W Maxwell, 76, of Rochester, passed away on Sunday February 22, 2026.

He was born on June 10, 1949, in Rushville IL to Phillip Lacy & Betty June (Kinkead) Maxwell. He married Janetta S Schuh on September 6, 1971, in Springfield, Il. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jan; one sister, Jennifer; and his two brothers Phil & Mickey “Mick” Maxwell.

Bob is survived by his daughters Stacey Case & Caitlin Maxwell; grandson, Payton Case; granddaughter, Evelyn Sue Wingler; sisters, Sharon (late husband Jim) Stickel and Marilyn Kuykendall of Springfield; brothers, Tom (wife Jannie) Maxwell of N. Little Rock, AR; Jimmy Maxwell of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Donna (late husband Phil) Maxwell of Springfield; Mary Kay (late husband Mick) Lentz of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob graduated from Southeast High School and entered the US Navy. After leaving the Navy, Bob attended classes at a local college before joining his father in law in the operation of his offset printing business, Lakeshore Press in Springfield, Il. In 1981, Bob moved to Rochester, and opened up his own offset printing business, Ink Spot Printing. He also opened up Video Depot which closed in 1994.

Bob was a strong supporter of his daughters and grandson’s athletic dreams. Whether it was figure skating, baseball, basketball, soccer or dance, he was always there cheering them on with encouraging words. Though their time together was far too short, Evelyn Sue was the light of his life.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was already hoping this may be another great year for the team. His love for all sports and local athletes was something special and he loved his Rochester community. Although he had no kids or grandkids currently in the Rochester school system, he never missed a football game in or out of town. He would attend the girls and boys basketball games on a regular basis and just truly loved watching each and every Rochester athlete including the graduated athletes currently in college sports.

He will be deeply missed by all of his family, friends and cherished dogs, Lizzie, Gracie & Tess.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 6,2026 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.

Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
