Robert Leonard Lamb

ILLIOPOLIS, IL - Robert Leonard Lamb, 73 passed away Dec. 17, 2013, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

He was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Illiopolis, the son of Leonard and Helen Neely Lamb. He married Carolyn Bandy on Oct. 18, 1958, in Illiopolis.

Robert was a manager for Borden Chemical Company in Illiopolis for 41 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of Illiopolis Christian Church and served on the Illiopolis School Board for many years. He was a man of integrity who devoted his entire life to his family.

He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Rocky; and one brother, Joe.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; one son, Rick Lamb of Illiopolis; two daughters, Bobbi (David Buechler) Claypool of Forsyth and Rita (Bruce) Stone of Bloomington; mother, Helen (Clyde) Aydt; one sister, Donna Egan; one brother, Gary Lamb; five grandchildren: Nick and Ben Viele, and Josh, Jake and Jacee Stone; one great-granddaughter, Bella Viele; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Illiopolis Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the church, Rev. Melissa Ebken officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Illiopolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to Illiopolis Christian Church or the American Cancer Society .

The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Esparaz and staff at the Cancer Care Center in Decatur as well as the 11th floor nursing staff at St. John's Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness shown to our loved one.
