Robert (Bob) George Wilson, Sr 67 of Rochester, IL formerly of Springfield and Pawnee, died Sunday February 5, 2017 at his home.
Born in Springfield, Illinois November 27th 1949 to Victor H. Wilson and Marilyn J (Murphy) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a retired technician from Illinois Bell Tel Co./Ameritech/SBC/AT&T. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Also a member of IBEW Locals 399 and 21, Heart of Illinois POW-MIA Association, Rochester VFW Post 11463, American Legion Post , DAV Hall- Hagler Chapter 15 of Springfield, Signal Corps Regimental Association, National Rifle Association, American Motorcycle Assocation, ABATE of Illinois, and The Last Patrol. He was a member of The South Fork Church of Christ in Rochester, the board of Springfield Center for Independent Living (SCIL), a board member of Lincoln Land Stroke Support Network (LSSN), a member of Memorial Rehab Stroke Support and Volunteer Group, a Samaritan at St Johns Hospital Stroke Peer Support Group thru CIVS.
He was preceded in death by his father Victor Wilson, mother Marilyn Fix, sisters Maryanne Wilson, Connie Lester and Joyce Honingman.
Survived by his son Robert (Lori) G Wilson Jr of Virden; daughters, Lisa (JD) Leaser of Pawnee, Amy Wilson of Pawnee, and Nicole (Shane) Sanders of Rochester; former spouses Denise Vickers of Pawnee, and Linda Wilson of Springfield; six grandchildren, Cassy Welch, Trevor Lash, Cole Leaser, Zoe Sanders, Matt Peregrin and Megan Miller; sisters, Sandy Schmidt of Pekin, Vicki (Terry) Treat of Columbia Falls, MT, Barbara Graham of Springfield, Mo, Cindy (Scott) Huber of Two Rivers, WI, and Linda (Joe) Smith of Cantrall; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services to be held at Wilson-Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Pastor Josh Bennett officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday February 9 from 4pm-7pm, and Funeral services on Friday February 10 at 10am. Burial to be at Rochester Cemetary, with military honors.
Donations may be given to Rochester VFW Post 11463, Legion Post 274, and/or Rochester Fire and Rescue Squad.
