Robert Eugene "Bob" "Barney" Parnell, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Primrose Retirement Community in Decatur, IL.

Bob was born on July 11, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Orville and Julia (Mason) Parnell. He married Peggy Seitz on September 9, 1967. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter and belonged to the Springfield Bass club. He worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid, retiring in 1991.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orville and Pete Parnell.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, R. Eugene (Afsi), Tim (Emily) and Leanna Parnell; grandchildren, Naomi, Quentin and Azalea Parnell; sister, Helen Rayburn and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:30AM at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial will follow at Rochester Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
