Obituary

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Robert W. Clements, 86, of Springfield, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center at Springfield.

He was born March 13, 1929, in Mount Auburn, a son of Cleatis and Myrtle Young Clements. He married Wilma I. Prior on April 21, 1950, in Mechanicsburg. She preceded him in death Aug. 5, 2013.

Robert retired from Rock Island Arsenal in 1984 after 33 years. He was a Marine PFC during World War II and a past master of the Mount Auburn and Illiopolis Masonic Lodge. Bob recently received his 50-year membership pin. He was also a longtime member of the Ansar Shriners.

Bob and Wilma were well-known in the standard bred trotters racing community. They received many awards for the irises they grew. They loved spending time on their farm in Missouri and going to any farm sale or auction he could find.

Survivors include one sister, Patty J. Hunt of Lincoln; three sisters-in-law, Mary Grace Prior (Charles, deceased) of Mechanicsburg, Shirley Prior (Earl, deceased) of Springfield and Barbara Clements (James) of Decatur; his nephew, Ronald L. Clements (Rose) of Fowler and their daughters, Michelle Clements Schuckman (Matt) of Quincy and Jennifer Clements of Decatur; along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins in the Decatur area. Their close friend Bonnie Seals (Harold), who was like a daughter to them, and her daughters Tara Maas, Tonya Torres, Jessica Bollman and Bonnie's three grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Velma Brown, Maxine Hays, Cleata Mae Hall, Delores Brown and Barbara Sharp; and one brother, James Clements.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home at Illiopolis. The Rev. Dave Harmon will be conducting. Burial will follow in Macon County Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Shriners Hospitals for Children , 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.
