ROCHESTER, IL- Robert A. Cannon, 85, of Rochester, passed away into heaven at Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

Robert was born on September 9, 1930 in Littleton Township, the son of Ralph and Bessie Gaddis Cannon. He married Shirley A. Strode; she preceded him in death on May 3, 2015.

Robert graduated from Greenville College and worked as a Civil Engineer for the State of Illinois Highway Construction. He loved being with and taking care of Shirley and his family. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and gardening.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Marylu) Cannon Jr.; daughter, Sue (Gary) Taylor; four grandchildren, Jason Cannon, Wesley (Mary) Cannon, Joshua (companion, Jena) Taylor, and Jacob (Karissa) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Central Illinois Food Bank, or Paralyzed Veterans.
