Rita L. Manion, 79, of Springfield IL, passed away on Thursday November 15, 2019 at Meadow Manor in Taylorville IL.

She was born on July 2, 1940 in Edinburg IL, the daughter of Ralph and Clara (Trader) Richards.

During her life, Rita had many friends and shared many wonderful experiences with her family. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery. In her younger years she loved to go motorcycle riding with her late husband, Raymond Manion. Rita worked as a bookkeeper for various employers, but she owned Angelo's Pizza in Chatham with her husband. She loved to travel and loved spending time with her grandkids.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

She is survived by her son, David Manion (companion, Lisha Smock) and daughter Karen Gerstung; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Manion, Shawn Manion, Chad Gerstung, and Cody Gerstung; several great-grandchildren; brother Bill Richards and sister Carol Higgins (husband, Robert); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation services will be accorded by Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday November 19, 2019 at 12 noon at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Anyone wishing to join the family, we ask that you do not arrive at the pavilion before 11:45am.
