SPRINGFIELD, IL - Ricardo "Rick" Allen Poani, 60, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at his residence.
Rick was born July 27, 1955, in Springfield, the son of Ernest "Duke" Joseph and Margaret Louise Blasko Poani.
Rick was owner and operator of Duke's Carburetor Service. He was a member of the Cadillac LaSalle Club and of the Catholic faith. When he was younger he raced quarter midget cars and, as he got older, he enjoyed restoring cars, showing cars and attending car shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his best friend and caregiver, Dan, who was by his side at the time of his passing; one brother, Ernie (Ruth) Poani Jr. of Edinburg; one sister, Deb (Mike) James of Petersburg; one aunt, Kathleen "Babe" Evans of Springfield; and four nephews: Mark Poani, Jeremy (Beth) Poani, Michael (Cassie) James and Patrick (Amanda) James.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Fr. George Nellikunnel, S.A.C. officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the choice of the donor.
