Obituary

Rex Curtsinger Jr., 82, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Rex was born on September 6, 1936, the son of Rex and Mary (Hudson) Curtsinger in Decatur. He married Maria Amparo on February 20, 2007.

He was a self-taught business man and founded Rexx Battery in 1959 and was well respected in the battery industry across the nation. Rex was happy to see a third generation starting to come into the business and was a member of First Church of God in Springfield.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Carol; his parents; stepfather, Arthur Gibbens; and one brother, Ralph Gibbens.

Rex is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters, Tracee (Mark) Kelly and Laurie (Jay) Fitzsimmons; grandchildren, Shane and Devin Kelly and Beth and Grant Fitzsimmons; three sisters, Frances Allsop, Vickie Graham and Brenda Waters; one brother, Buck Gibbens; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Reverend Jay Croft officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
