Raymond Kurniskie, 90, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Raymond was born on December 7, 1934, in Springfield, the son of George and Opal (Young) Kurniskie. He married Dorothy Denton and she preceded him death on March 14, 2021. Raymond was a member of the NRA, Vice President of the Abe Lincoln Gun Club where was instrumental in the preservation of the club during hard times, enjoyed hunting and helped in starting the Young Hunters Safety Program for the state of Illinois. Raymond served in the US Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Germany.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; his wife, Dorothy; and one son, Lee Kurniskie; Raymond is survived by one son, Kent (Brenda) Kurniskie; three granddaughters, Melissa, Samantha and Jessica; three great grandsons, David, Raymond and Alex as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday October 23, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Raymond will receive Military Honor's.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
