Penny Shea Passfield, 60, of Rochester, Illinois left the bonds of earth to be home to be with her LORD and Savior on Thursday November 3, 2016 with her loved ones at her side.
She was born on June 7, 1956 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd L. Goodin and Mary Louise Williams Goodin of Atlanta, IL. Penny married the love of her life Neil Passfield of 37 years on October 6, 1979 in Atlanta, Illinois. They have resided in Rochester throughout the majority of their marriage.
Penny has spent 33 years as a nursing technician for Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. The last 16 years of her career she worked in Baylis Day Surgery at Memorial Medical Center. Throughout her extensive career with Memorial Medical Center, Penny worked in various units including; Surgical, Oncology, General Admission, and Out Patient Day Surgery. Penny enjoyed caring for and investing in each and every patient she had contact with. Penny was deeply loved and cherished by her colleagues at Memorial Medical Center.
When not at work, Penny enjoyed spending time with her husband and supporting him as a volunteer fire fighter with the Rochester Fire Department. She was an active member of South Fork Church of Christ. She was a faithful Band Booster for her son, Seth, and a proud parent in the stands for her son, Aaron. It brought Penny great joy to have a house full of kids as she was well loved and respected by their friends. Penny always had a niche for making friends feel welcomed in their house at all times as she always greeted them with a hug at the door.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles.
Penny will be deeply missed but never forgotten by her faithful husband Neil; two sons, Aaron (wife Ashely) of Bloomington, IL, Seth (wife Amber) of Brazil, IN, and her caring Brother-in-Law Brian Passfield (his loving wife Sherri) of Springfield. Penny has a wonderful niece, Alicia Passfield from Chicago, and an amazing nephew, Kyle Passfield, from Springfield who she loved dearly and often considered her own children.
In addition to her close family, Penny will be deeply missed by countless friends. Her memories will live on in the lives of those she touched.
Visitation services will be held from 4:30 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester, IL. The family will celebrate Penny's rich life with a service officiated by her minister Josh Bennett. The service will be held at South Fork Church of Christ, 7898 Johnson Road, Rochester, IL, on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at 10:30 am. A burial at Rochester Cemetery will be held at a later time with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to South Fork Church of Christ, or Baylis Day Surgery Fund C/O Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
